Get Traffic With PPC
PPC or Pay Per Click is a great way for generating serious traffic. Most newbie are often deterred by the idea of playing for a click. The most popular PPC network would have to be Google Adsense, followed by Yahoo! Ads, and MSN Adcenter.
How PPC Works
When you try and search for something on Google, have you ever noticed the area on the right hand side that says “Sponsored Results”? Advertisers will pick several keywords or search queries that they wish to show their ads for. Every time someone clicks on a ad, the Advertiser must pay for that click hence PPC. Here is a screen shot below in which I seached for “Make Money Online” with Google.

How Much Does it Cost Per Click?
There are several factors that determine what your cost per click will be. Initially, most PPC networks run on a bidding system. The more popular the keywords, the more your bids will cost.
For example, super saturated markets like dieting, weight loss, and travel will tend to have higher minimums because they are so popular. You can state what your minimum bid will be but your placement on the search results are reflective of this. So if you tried to do a minimum bid of $0.15 per click for the keyword “Weight Loss” there is a good chance that your ad will never be shown or will be on a 4th or 5th page of the search results.
Networks like Google Adwords also implement Quality Scores in which they scan your site to see if your content is relevant to your keywords you are bidding on.
For example, if you have a blog about basket weaving and try to have your ad show up every time someone searches for the term “Free Ringtones” there is a good chance they will make your minimum bid something ridiculous like $15.00 per click.
So a word to the wise, always pick relevant keywords that match your sites content.
I recommend for the newbie trying to get started in PPC to start small with a campaign around $50-$100 and see how well you do. Also check out some of these sites that offer more in depth guides for PPC Marketing:
